For the last few years I’ve made a point of deliberately ignoring most of the social networks. I’ve been an active member of flickr for years, and have used Twitter regularly for about a year now, but I haven’t been able to find space in my life for more.
However, a few months ago, I reactivated my Facebook account (which I originally set up in 2007). I didn’t do anything with it at first, apart from accepting a few friend requests; but recently, I’ve found it to be quite good fun for finding people I know, and have started logging on more often.
As a direct result, my flickr postings have suffered, and so have my tweets!
I think this is proof that I can’t be properly active on more than two social networks, so I’m starting to wonder which one should give. It won’t be flickr, because I love photography too much for that. I guess that leaves Twitter or Facebook.
Any advice? I know people are visiting and reading, so please feel free to leave a comment.
Some people appear to be active on all the networks, and still manage to remain productive in their daily life. How do they do it? I wish I knew the secret…
Now I’m off to read these:
Can you join too many networks?
How many social nets are too many?

You may have answered your own question; stick to wherever the fun is!
There’s no need to dump any, really. Why not just let some lay dormant for a while, likeyou did with MySpace? It’s not like they’re going to fade with age.
You are allowed to change your mind!
Thanks Wayne. I must admit I had you in mind when I wrote this. You really are the Social Media Meister!
Do you remember me being on MySpace? Wow, that was a long time ago.
“You really are the Social Media Meister!”
Translated, with politeness filters off: “You really have no life!”
